Safety & Conduct

Creating a calm, respectful, and supportive environment for both people and ponies.

Our Approach to Safety & Conduct

At Charis Ponies, the safety and wellbeing of both people and animals is our highest priority.

Our sessions are designed to create a calm, respectful, and encouraging environment where participants can feel safe, supported, and comfortable while interacting with ponies and the wider property environment.

Every participant is different, and sessions are shaped to move at a pace that feels appropriate and supportive for each individual.

What Is Expected of Visitors

Suitable Clothing

Visitors are encouraged to wear: closed footwear, comfortable outdoor clothing, and appropriate sun protection. As many sessions take place outdoors, clothing suitable for changing weather conditions is recommended.

Calm Communication

Participants and support people are encouraged to use calm voices and carefully follow instructions around the ponies.

No Smoking

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property, including inside vehicles.

Respect for Animals & People

All visitors are expected to treat the ponies, animals, property, and people with kindness and respect at all times.

Asking Questions

If visitors are unsure or uncomfortable at any point, they are encouraged to speak up and ask questions.

No Dogs

Dogs are not permitted on the property for the safety and wellbeing of the ponies and other animals.

Safety Around Ponies

Ponies are gentle and social animals, but like all animals they can react unexpectedly at times.

Sessions begin with a simple introduction covering:

  • Safe interaction around ponies
  • Understanding pony behaviour
  • Personal space and awareness
  • Calm and respectful interaction

Participants are guided throughout sessions to help ensure everyone feels safe and confident.

Property Guidelines

Charis Ponies is a working rural property and visitors are asked to move carefully and respectfully throughout the space.

Follow instructions during sessions

Stay within designated areas

Supervise children and support people appropriately

Respect gates, fences, and animal spaces

Be mindful of changing weather and outdoor conditions

A Safe & Supportive Environment

Our hope is that every person who visits Charis Ponies feels welcomed, respected, encouraged, and safe. By working together respectfully, we can help create positive experiences for both people and ponies alike.
