At Charis Ponies, we believe meaningful connection can create powerful opportunities for growth, confidence, and encouragement.
Set in the peaceful surroundings of the Lower Kaimai, Charis offers purpose-based equine friendship, learning, and wellbeing programmes for neurodiverse individuals, adults, and small groups. Through structured, non-riding interaction with ponies, participants are encouraged to grow at their own pace in a calm, supportive environment.
Every session is tailored to the individual or group, creating space for trust, learning, confidence, and connection to naturally develop.

The Heart Behind Charis Ponies
Charis Ponies was founded from a lifelong love of ponies and a deeply personal journey of recovery.
After suffering a serious head injury in 2008, Carol temporarily lost her ability to talk, read, and write. While caring for her ponies, she slowly began rebuilding her speech by talking to them during everyday routines around the barn.
Through this experience, Carol discovered firsthand the unique way ponies can help people feel safe, encouraged, empowered, and connected.
Today, Charis exists to create those same opportunities for others through calm, relational, purpose-based programmes.
